Sistema NB has received a generous $15 thousand grant to be given over the next three years, from the D’Addario Foundation. The American non-profit organization provides financial and product support to music instruction programs that are committed to social change.
“We are so grateful to the D’Addario Foundation for their incredibly generous grant,” says Ken MacLeod, CEO of the Sistema NB program and the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra. “Their support makes an enormous difference in our communities, allowing us to strengthen our programs and create even more opportunities for young people through music. “
In addition to the three-year grant, the Foundation has also offered an additional $1 thousand per year (for three years) worth of supplies for instrument accessories – things like strings, reeds, mouthpieces and more, that are essential for students in their learning.
This year, Sistema NB is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Currently, there are more than 1,100 students enrolled in 10 Sistema NB centres across the province. Sistema NB operates with the support of the Province of New Brunswick as well as through community donations.
