December 12 marked the official launch of the Ensemble des jeunes du Madawaska (EJM) at Sistema NB Edmundston.
More than a new orchestra, the EJM represents a powerful investment in young people from the Madawaska region.
Led by conductor and coordinator Eliezer Rangel, and supported by dedicated Sistema NB Teaching Artists Sébastien Sirois, Marc-André Gautier, and Emmanuel Ortega, the EJM represents the highest level of programming offered at Sistema NB Edmundston.
Created for youth who are ready for greater musical challenge, the EJM provides advanced orchestral experiences and allows middle and high-school aged students who might otherwise lack access to such opportunities to continue growing through music. Through ensemble learning, students will condevelop teamwork skills, confidence, discipline, and resilience.
As Sistema NB’s fourth regional youth orchestra, alongside the Moncton Youth Orchestra, the Saint John Youth Orchestra, and the Miramichi Youth String Orchestra, the EJM strengthens a province-wide continuum of musical and social development. It also offers a clear pathway toward the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra.
We are proud to see the EJM take its first steps in Edmundston, and we look forward to the lasting impact this ensemble will have on young people, families, and the wider community for years to come!
