The Moncton Youth Orchestra (MYO) is one of the three regional youth orchestras in our province, alongside the Saint John Youth Orchestra and the Miramichi Youth String Orchestra. Together, these ensembles represent the highest level of excellence within the Sistema NB program. Based at the Sistema NB Centre in Moncton, the MYO provides a unique orchestral experience for the region’s most talented young musicians.

The MYO is dedicated to inspire children to achieve their full potential through the transformative power of music. Under the leadership of Pedro Moya, the orchestra fosters a deep love for orchestral music while promoting teamwork, discipline, and artistic growth. Rehearsals, held twice a week, combine full ensemble sessions with instrument-specific workshops, creating a well-rounded and enriching experience for every musician.

The orchestra embraces a dynamic and collaborative approach, featuring repertoire that challenges and motivates students to strive for excellence. Each season, the MYO performs several Main Stage concerts, often collaborating with renowned guest artists such as Measha Brueggergosman, Anne Janelle & James Hill, Edwin Huizinga, Stéphanie Mainville, James Mullinger, and many more. These performances inspire students to aim higher, offering invaluable opportunities to learn and excel alongside accomplished professionals.

Auditions for the MYO are held every spring (May-June) and are open to students who demonstrate the required level of technical skill and commitment. Participation in the MYO offers young musicians enriching experiences, significant growth opportunities, and connections to a supportive and vibrant musical community.

The Moncton Youth Orchestra proudly cultivates a vibrant musical tradition that inspires excellence through music, promotes lifelong friendships, and inspires young musicians to reach their full potential.
