Sistema New Brunswick is proud to celebrate Marysol Boisvert, who has been selected as a recipient of a $500 scholarship through the Da Capo Inventory platform. Each year, the company awards scholarships to students who demonstrate dedication, passion, and growth through music education.
Marysol began learning the viola in the Sistema NB Richibucto Centre in 2018, played with the Moncton Youth Orchestra for several years and is now a member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra.
In her essay, replying to a prompt about her most meaningful performance, Marysol reflected on her experience performing as a soloist at Carnegie Hall in 2022 following success in international competitions and months of preparation with her teacher, Maestro Swan.
One of the most memorable moments in her essay comes from a lesson that reshaped how she thinks about music:
“I learned that music is not just a form of entertainment to the ear but a powerful gift that can give feelings to all living things.”
Marysol wrote about the personal growth that came from preparing for such a major performance, including learning humility, perseverance, and how to stay grounded under pressure. She also described the profound impact of a lesson where her teacher encouraged her to play music outdoors among the trees, helping her connect more deeply with sound, vibration, and expression.
The scholarship will help Marysol continue her musical development through a masterclass with Steven Dann, a highly respected Canadian violist and faculty member at The Glenn Gould School in Toronto.
The Glenn Gould School, part of The Royal Conservatory of Music, is one of Canada’s leading professional music training institutions, known for preparing young artists for international careers in performance. Steven Dann is widely recognized for his work as both a performer and educator, mentoring many emerging string players across Canada and internationally.
For Marysol, the opportunity to study with a musician and educator of this calibre represents an important next step in her artistic journey.
We are incredibly proud of Marysol for this achievement and grateful to Da Capo Inventory for investing in young musicians and helping create meaningful opportunities for students to continue pursuing excellence in music.
